About the role
Arena Magazine is seeking an ambitious editor and manager to help jumpstart our digital business. You will be managing the day-to-day for our online content and will help set the editorial vision for the company through your writing.
You will be responsible for managing the entire cycle for online content. This includes finding contributors, developing a pipeline of contributors, working with them to create content for Arena Online, editing their work, managing the relationship with them, and ensuring that all content online fits the mold of an Arena story.
You will work closely with the team on story selection and ideation, proactively creating original story ideas. You will also have the opportunity to write.

- Strong writing skills and ability to write clear prose.
- Willingness to engage with the audience in good faith and consistently hit deadlines.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and the scope of the role subject to change to meet the needs of the business as we grow.
- Willingness to work on newsletters and email products if and when needed.
- Belief that more information and transparency is better and a rejection of the traditional, gatekeeping and agenda-setting mentality of the legacy press.
- Experience writing, as defined above.
- Fan of Arena: Enjoying the content and our vibe is key to a successful role here.
- Self-starter: Not needing to be asked to do start, write, and finish stories and assignments.
- Attention to detail: Sweating the small stuff.
- Startup mindset: Wanting to join a startup and abhorring corporate bureaucracy.
