Edith Wharton Review Seeks New Editor – Society for the Study of American Women Writers
About the Role
The Edith Wharton Review is a peer-reviewed, MLA-indexed publication of the Edith Wharton Society, published twice yearly by Pennsylvania State University Press. It features scholarship on Edith Wharton, her literary contexts, and her ongoing influence, along with pedagogical essays and book reviews.
The editor collaborates with associate editors and the book review editor to shape the journal’s vision and oversee each issue. Responsibilities include working with Penn State University Press, the advisory board, and the Edith Wharton Society Board (including virtual meetings), managing submissions and peer review, guiding issues through production, promoting the journal, and soliciting strong submissions from scholars at all career stages.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching or publishing on Edith Wharton
- Prior editorial or peer-review work
Schedule
The incoming editor will ideally begin working with the current editor in July 2026 (Spring 2027 issue) and assume full responsibility by June 2027 (Fall 2027 issue), though timing is negotiable.
This position is undertaken as part of the editor’s academic work, and no remuneration is provided by the journal.
