About the Role

This is a part-time position for an Emergency Department Tech, with a .6-.75 FTE (48-60 hours per pay period). The role involves 12-hour day or night shifts, including every 3rd weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a professional and compassionate attitude toward patients, families, visitors, coworkers, and other departmental representatives.
• Answer patients' call lights and direct all phone calls promptly; communicate and complete needed patient interventions.
• Handle all organizational information with strict confidentiality.
• Obtain signatures and place identification on patients.
• Maintain and order unit supplies and stock items.
• Assemble and disassemble patient charts.
• Assist in the delivery of patient care as directed, including transfers, ambulation, feeding, dressing, bathing, weighing, and toileting.
• Participate in hourly rounding.
• Report significant events and actions promptly to the RN.
• Apply monitors, report the effectiveness of any safety device and/or mobility alarm to the RN.
• Clean and disinfect equipment as needed and assist in keeping the unit clean and organized.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Graduate of a Nursing Aide or EMT program.
• Certification and current listing on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry or certification through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians or Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board preferred.
• BLS Certification or ability to obtain within two months of hire and maintain certification.
• Experience in an ambulatory or inpatient healthcare setting with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities within short time frames preferred.

• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.

Pay

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in the AFSCME union agreement for this job classification. Individual pay rates may be influenced by qualifying experience as specified in the contract.
