About the role
The Emergency Room Technician assists in the care and treatment of Emergency Department patients, their families, and visitors. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and proficiency in various medical duties.
Responsibilities
- Signing patients into the emergency department.
- Obtaining the patients' vital signs and placing patient on cardiac monitors.
- Preforming EKGs.
- Preparing patients for exams.
- Aiding with medical setup for versus procedures.
- Compiling all medical paperwork from patients visit for medical records.
- Making measurements and fitting patients with orthopedic supplies.
- Drawing blood.
- Collecting specimens.
- Cleaning and stocking rooms.
- Handling telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for patient confidentiality.
- Contacting other hospitals and specialty providers when requested.
- Arranging medical transport when needed.
- Assisting in transporting Behavioral Health patients as directed/needed.
- Transporting patients to different areas of the hospital.
- Performing CPR.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous patient care experience strongly preferred.
- Current CPR preferred.
- Valid NYS Driver's license is required.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and nursing practices preferred.
- Proficient in typing and basic computer knowledge required.
- Strong communication skills.
- Able to multi-task.
- Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $18.00-$21.60/hr. Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
