About the role

The positions at Troy Howard Middle School and Belfast Area High School are for an Educational Technician III. The roles are located in the Life Skills Classroom at Captain Albert Stevens Elementary School, the Resource Room at Troy Howard Middle School, and the Pathways Program at Belfast Area High School. The Compass Program is also available at Belfast Area High School.

Responsibilities

• Supports students with disabilities in accessing the general education curriculum
• Assists in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Provides direct instruction and support in life skills and academic subjects
• Maintains a safe and inclusive learning environment
• Collaborates with teachers, parents, and other school staff to ensure student success

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in special education, related field, or equivalent work experience
• Current Maine DOE certification as an Educational Technician III
• Experience working with students with disabilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
• Proficiency in using assistive technology
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs

Skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
• Strong problem-solving abilities
