Responsibilities
The Emergency Department Technician III supports a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Duties include:
- Assisting with patient care activities
- Performing multi-skilled tasks
- Supporting the achievement of desired patient outcomes
Requirements
Minimum requirements include:
- A high school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of patient care experience in a health care environment or certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Completion of an adult medical/surgical course with hands-on clinical experience
- Successful completion of on-line course modules, phlebotomy training, and skills validation for basic and advanced skills, and EKG training
- Passing the Emergency Department Technician unit specific training and competency demonstration within the first six months of employment
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience as a Patient Care Tech, nursing assistant, or nursing student enrolled in an accredited institution
- Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
