ED PATIENT ACCESS SPECIALIST

This role involves pushing and pulling Workstations on Wheels in the ED department. You will use both desktop computers and workstations on wheels to interview patients, record information, create patient profiles, scan documentation, and communicate information to patients, nursing staff, and customers. Accuracy and completeness in all entries are essential. Cross-training in other PAS departments is expected, along with exposure to a variety of stressful clinical situations. Flexibility to work all scheduled shifts, including nights and weekends, is required.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and record accurate, complete information.
- Create and maintain patient profiles.
- Scan and manage documentation.
- Communicate effectively with patients, nursing staff, and customers.
- Operate Workstations on Wheels and desktop computers in the ED department.
- Cross-train in other PAS departments as needed.
- Work all scheduled shifts, including nights and weekends.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and fluently.
- Computer experience using Microsoft Windows Suite.
- Excellent customer service skills (may be asked to demonstrate typing 59 correct keystrokes per minute for Alpha).
- Two years of experience in a customer service environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- CNA or other medical certification.
- Experience in a medical environment.
- Completion of an approved Medical Terminology course or knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with Meditech or other medical data systems.
- Certification by a professional organization (CAM, CHAA, or CHAM).
- Ability to communicate in Spanish.
