About the Role

This position involves providing expert economic analysis and guidance for civil works projects within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The role supports planning, development, and decision-making processes through detailed economic and socio-economic studies.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice and assistance to staff regarding preparation of reports related to the planning and development of civil works studies.
• Plan, direct, coordinate, and review economic, socio-economic analysis, and other special studies of existing and proposed civil works projects.
• Review and/or prepare economic models and analytical reports of findings, including interpretations, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Help determine appropriate economic models and procedures to analyze National Economic Development benefits and costs for compliance with policy in Corps civil works decision documents.
• Provide advice on the appropriate level of detail for economic modeling and analysis using professional judgment and experience to direct studies under the new civil works planning process.

• Basic Requirement for Economist:
  • Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in economics that includes 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
  • Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in economics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
• Specialized Experience:
  • GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting water and related land resource planning, economic analysis, and studies. This experience is typical of work performed at the GS-11 level in the federal service.
  • GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing water and land resource planning, economic analysis, and study products. This experience is typical of work performed at the GS-12 level in the federal service.
• Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11 for the GS-12 level; GS-12 for the GS-13 level).
• Foreign Education: If using education completed in foreign colleges or universities, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
• This position may require a 1-year probationary period.
• Direct deposit of pay is required.
