Economic Analyst

About the role

MIG, Inc. is seeking an experienced, mid-level Economic Analyst to join our team in our Downtown Brooklyn office. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative, place-based strategies that demand both analytic rigor and creative thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement strategies for economic development and urban planning.
  • Work on a variety of projects including downtown real estate assessments, community wealth-building initiatives, and green infrastructure funding.
  • Manage multiple deliverables and deadlines, producing high-quality work products.
  • Present and facilitate both online and in-person meetings, turning data or fuzzy ideas into sharp, digestible insights.
  • Use software such as Microsoft Office, ESRI, GIS, CoStar, and public datasets to analyze and visualize data.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, public administration, urban planning, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in consulting, applied policy, or public agency work focused on economic development, urban planning, real estate, or related fields.
  • Experience working directly with clients or public agencies.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and visual communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint; and experience with ESRI, GIS, CoStar, and public datasets.
  • A willingness to pitch in, adapt, and collaborate as a teammate.
  • The ability to work from the office at least a couple of times a week and travel as needed.

Benefits

MIG offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off (PTO), 10 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, FSA, and HRA with employer contributions, and a 401K matching program. This is a full-time, hourly position with eligibility for overtime pay. The pay range for this position is $43-48/hour ($90,000-$100,000/year salary equivalent), commensurate with skills and experience.
