eCommerce Principal Software Engineer

Location: Downers Grove, IL (Hybrid) Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $140,000 - $180,000 Base + Bonus NO SPONSORSHIP PROVIDED About The Opportunity Recruit22 is partnering with a leading organization to identify a Principal Software Engineer who will serve as a strategic technical leader responsible for shaping the future of a large-scale eCommerce platform. This role combines hands-on software engineering, enterprise architecture, cloud transformation, AI innovation, and technical leadership. The ideal candidate brings a strong track record of designing and delivering modern, cloud-native applications while influencing engineering direction across multiple teams. Key Responsibilities Define and drive application and solution architecture across a large-scale eCommerce ecosystem. Lead architecture reviews, technical governance, and engineering standards. Design and build scalable microservices and modern front-end architectures. Drive cloud modernization initiatives utilizing Microsoft Azure technologies. Develop and implement AI-powered solutions, agentic workflows, and LLM integrations. Establish best practices for software quality, CI/CD, security, observability, and reliability. Mentor engineering teams and influence technical direction across the organization. Partner with business stakeholders to align technology strategy with long-term business objectives. Required Experience 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience. Proven experience in Principal, Staff, or Lead Architect-level roles. Expertise designing large-scale distributed systems and eCommerce platforms.
