About the Role

The staff member must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her unit.

Responsibilities

• Performs Diagnostic Cardiac ultrasound procedures on patients in the Department of Cardiology/Echocardiography.
• Participates in teaching Cardiology Fellows from the University of Connecticut Medical School and Echocardiographer students from the Hoffman Heart School of Ultrasound.
• Maintains workflow and performs clerical duties as needed.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan and assesses data reflective of the patient's status to interpret appropriate information for each patient's requirements.
• Must have a working knowledge of pertinent equipment, scanning techniques, patient care, and evaluating patient status and emergency situations.
• Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department’s computerized system and its associated devices.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved cardiac Ultrasound technology program, with credentialing from an ICAEL and ASE recognized Program, such as ARDMS or CCI.
• Registry eligible candidates have 90 days from date of hire to pass the licensure exam.
• Licensed by an organization recognized by ICAEL and ASE.
