About the role

This job provides individualized, direct patient care of assigned patients by performing a variety of sonographic procedures and/or tests, including but not limited to electrocardiograms, associated stress tests, echocardiograms (2D/M Mode, Doppler, Color Flow imaging), Exercise Stress Echo, and Dobutamine Stress Echo. The role involves compiling history and diagnostic information from examinations and presenting preliminary sonographic findings, while maintaining the highest quality of personalized patient care and positive work relationships with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic procedures and tests, including echocardiograms, stress tests, and electrocardiograms.
• Compile patient history and diagnostic information, presenting preliminary findings.
• Assist attending physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance.
• Prepare, instruct, and educate patients on procedures.
• Document and maintain accurate records of procedures and patient information.
• Prepare and maintain the work area for procedures.
• Plan, organize, and demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making in daily tasks.
• Maintain professional development, clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
• Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy, communication style, and cultural needs.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• 2 years of experience in cardiac ultrasound (required).
• Active RDCS registry through ARDMS Credentialing Agency (required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required).
• General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and hemodynamics of blood flow.
• Ability to preliminarily identify stenosis or occlusion based on nationally published criteria.
• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Self-directed with the ability to function without direct supervision.
• Willingness to maintain flexibility in work duties and hours, including nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exert up to 100 pounds of force.
• Physical demand requirements exceed those of sedentary work.
• Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue in a patient care area.
• Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
