ECEAP Family Support Specialist
The ECEAP Family Support Specialist provides quality comprehensive child/family support services to children birth to 5 years and their families. This role supports parents in meeting their children’s needs, enhancing their role as primary influencers in education and development, increasing economic stability, determining program eligibility, and fostering positive relationships between parents, schools, and students. This position supports YMCA ECEAP programs in Redmond and Bellevue Early Education Centers.
About the role
This full-time position is part of the Youth Development Programs Branch at the YMCA of Greater Seattle, serving over 5,000 children, youth, young adults, and families annually across King County. The role supports the Eastgate Early Education Center in Bellevue, WA, with scheduled hours between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, select, and enroll eligible children and families to maintain full program enrollment and encourage family involvement.
- Assess family and infant/child needs and assist parents in developing action plans to remove barriers to child success in school.
- Orient families to program services, processes, and requirements.
- Provide health screenings, immunization verifications, and referrals to outside agencies to promote treatment and compliance.
- Conduct home visits to build relationships and set family goals.
- Plan and facilitate family meetings and parent involvement events to comply with program regulations.
- Develop individualized health, nutrition, and family support plans for enrolled children.
- Participate in workshops, meetings, and community events to present or receive information.
- Report suspected incidents (e.g., abuse, neglect, contagious disease) to appropriate parties while adhering to policies.
- Provide outreach to low-income communities to develop resources and partnerships.
- Administer State and Federal Performance Standards to ensure program eligibility and compliance.
- Support daily center operations by serving in an in-ratio classroom role as needed.
- Identify and escalate potential non-compliance or risk issues to supervisors.
- Participate in internal meetings to maintain industry knowledge and team collaboration.
- Maintain required licenses, certifications, or credentials.
- Perform tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
- Integrate safety policies into daily practice and adhere to company procedures and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned, with potential modifications to meet business needs.
Requirements
- Associate or higher degree in any field with 30 job-related credits or a credential/certification in social work, human services, family services, or counseling or a current Home Visitor CDA credential from the Council for Professional Recognition.
- Ability to complete initial health examination and/or TB screening as required by state licensing.
- Pass a Criminal Record Check.
- Obtain First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification within 90 days of hiring and maintain it.
- Obtain a Food Handler’s Permit within 90 days of hiring and maintain it.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle with insurance coverage.
- 3 years of experience working as a Lead Teacher in a childcare environment.
- Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ECEAP or Head Start programs.
- Knowledge of and experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
- Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
- Experience working with high-risk, systems-involved (e.g., homeless, justice, behavioral health, foster care) youth or equivalent community-based service experience.
- Ability to work independently and within teams.

Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, squatting, sitting, typing, bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
- Adequate hearing and visual acuity for in-person, telephone, and virtual interactions.
- Ability to remain stationary (sitting or standing) up to 95% of the time.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects ranging from 5 lbs. to 50 lbs., including frequent lifting above the shoulders.
- 70% of time spent in an indoor office environment.
- 20% of time spent in classrooms observing and supporting youth.
- 10% of time spent on home visits with families.
- In-person role requiring 5 days a week at a Childcare Center.
- Driving and other travel up to 10% of the time.
- Weekly schedule: Monday–Friday, with hours varying between 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., including some evenings or weekend meetings.

Pay
$29.00–$36.00/hour, depending on experience.
