About the role
The Educational Service District 123 is seeking a Family Support Specialist to serve Burbank and Pasco sites. This position supports outreach, recruitment, and enrollment processes, collaborates with families to set goals, and provides comprehensive family support services.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to positive communication and mutual support among ECEAP staff.
- Organize and conduct ongoing recruitment to ensure full enrollment.
- Interview parents to determine program eligibility and obtain necessary permissions.
- Organize and conduct parent orientations, including explaining relevant policies and curriculum.
- Support families in recognizing their strengths, setting goals, and developing a Family Partnership Plan.
- Overcome barriers and help families achieve economic success.
- Provide family support services, including health screenings and referrals.
- Collaborate with center mental health professionals and access interpreters.
- Visit families' homes to enroll children, interview parents, and provide information.
- Collect and identify health and nutrition information from parents and providers.
- Develop individualized child health and nutrition plans.
- Evaluate and document families' experiences with health plans.
- Provide support to families experiencing crises and refer them to appropriate resources.
- Promote parent, staff, and community partnerships in the ECEAP program.
- Encourage parents to participate in decisions concerning their children's education.
- Provide or assist with providing health, nutrition, and oral health education.
- Maintain accurate records and compile monthly activity reports.
- Participate in interdisciplinary planning for children and families.
- Establish and maintain links with community members and agencies.
- Develop and maintain an updated list of community resources.
- Travel between work sites as needed.
- Cover breaks for ECEAP staff as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Requirements
- One of the following qualifications:
- An associate or higher degree with 30 college quarter credits in adult education, human development, human services, family support, social work, early childhood education, child development, psychology, or another field directly related to job responsibilities.
- A DCYF-approved credential from a comprehensive and competency-based Family/Social Service training program.
- A Washington State ECE Home Visitor Certificate.
- A Home Visitor Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential from the Council of Professional Recognition.
- A high school diploma or GED and an ESD 123 approved professional development plan (PDP).
- Demonstrated successful experience working with and providing support to students and families.
- Cleared portable background check.

Pay
Paid once a month on the last working day of the month. Gross pay based on the number of days and hours assigned to the work calendar (Sept 01-Aug 31) and placement on the salary schedule. Full work calendar is 180 days and 8 hours per day.
Schedule
Monday-Friday (8 hrs. per day / 180 days per year/late August - mid June)
