Qualifications & Requirements
- Certification: Must hold, or be eligible for, a Maine Department of Education 282B Endorsement (Teacher of Students with Disabilities, Birth to Age 5).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Specialized Instruction: Develop and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based lesson plans aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support functional, social-emotional, communication, and early academic skills with the school setting or with community partners.
- IEP Case Management: Complete developmental assessments, write, monitor, and implement IEPs; collect and analyze student data to track progress, inform instruction, and complete Child Outcomes Summary (COS) processes.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and behavior specialists to integrate related services into the student’s daily routine.
- Staff Supervision: Direct, supervise, and support Educational Technicians (Ed Techs) assigned to the classroom to ensure cohesive instruction and safety.
- Familial Partnership: Maintain strong, transparent, and empathetic communication with families, providing resources to support learning and development at home.
