EC Teacher (Licensed EC K-12 or Adapted K-12)

We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs in a school-based setting. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students reach their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals through individualized instruction, collaboration, and evidence-based teaching practices. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing specialized instruction and support services while working closely with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families.
  • Assess student performance and utilize data to drive instructional decisions.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations.
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional methods, and materials to meet individual student needs.
  • Support inclusion practices and assist students in accessing the general education curriculum when appropriate.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other required school meetings.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student success and independence.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Adapted Curriculum K-12 License OR Exceptional Children (EC) General Curriculum K-12 License.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Exceptional Children, Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching students with disabilities in a school setting.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and behavior intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with North Carolina EC policies and procedures.
  • Experience supporting students across a variety of disability categories and educational settings.
