Eastman - Machine Operator
About the role
Follows all safety guidelines and procedures as required.
Understands the Job Safety Analysis and Energy Safe Procedures for the position and machine.
Collaborates and communicates with all levels of employees and management.
Understands and follows lockout – tagout procedures for assigned equipment.
Responsibilities
- Accurately reads and interprets plant order information (POF) and completes required forms in a timely manner.
Understands and follows all quality rules and procedures and performs required quality checks on product being produced.
Understands and follows all SQF policies and procedures including, but not limited to, procedures for food safety, housekeeping, personal hygiene, and auditing.
Determines if machine can produce product specified on the POF and ensures all materials and parts needed for production runs are available.
Sets up machines for production runs as specified on the POF form and other set up documentation.
Maintains machine speed and productivity by adjusting as needed.
Organizes Assistant Operators and Inspectors for optimal efficiency and coaches employees on production, quality, and safety. - Performs oil and grease procedures, replaces parts, troubleshoots machine issues, and performs minor equipment repairs as needed.
Uses hand truck, drum dolly, and electric pallet jack.
Carries out housekeeping duties in the work area, including sweeping, mopping, picking up and disposing of trash.
May operate forklift truck.
Reads a tape measure.
Uses basic math skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions.
Uses a computer and understands computer software.
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Ability to lift to 80 pounds
Previous machine operator experience, preferred
Willingness to work any day and any shift, including weekends and overnight shifts
Ability to work overtime as needed

- Ability to organize and manage Assistant Operators and Inspectors
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor equipment repairs
