East Region Mining Practice Lead

About the role

HDR is seeking an East Region Mining Practice Lead to support the growth of technical support needs for greenfield and brownfield projects related to permitting, design, and operations. The role involves project management, technical support, and program building.

Responsibilities

  • Guiding project teams on approach, requirements, and scope to solve client challenges and leading projects to successful completion
  • Maintaining communication with HDR operations leadership and identifying and onboarding the right multi-disciplinary team members
  • Expanding program service offerings within the East Region through area and national teams, as well as training and mentoring new mining team members
  • Engaging in client interaction, proposal development, and communication with internal staff
  • Serving as an active member of relevant local and regional organizations, presenting at industry events, and mentoring project teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or related discipline
  • PE in a minimum of one state, with multiple states preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years related industry experience, including 10 years in mining project management
  • Experience in managing mining projects to a successful conclusion, including under budget and on schedule
  • Familiarity with multiple commodities, soft and hard-rock mining operations, studies, design, and execution from exploration to closure and reclamation
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • MSHA certification
  • Experience in open pit and underground mines, including consulting and operations
  • Block modeling experience
  • Experience working for a mine operating company

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field
  • Minimum of 10 years related industry experience
  • Experience in developing and managing diverse teams
  • Experience working with business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers
  • Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values
  • Attitude and commitment to participating actively in the HDR employee-owned culture
