About the role
HDR is seeking a East Region Mining Practice Lead to support the growth of technical support needs for greenfield and brownfield projects related to permitting, design, and operations. The role focuses on project management, technical support, and program building.
Responsibilities
- Guide project teams on approach, requirements, and scope to solve client challenges and ensure successful project completion.
- Monitor and communicate project status with HDR operations leadership.
- Network internally to identify and onboard the right multi-disciplinary team members for pursuits and projects.
- Expand program service offerings within the East Region through area and national teams, as well as train and mentor new mining team members.
- Engage in client interaction, including awareness of client challenges, proposal technical value development, and post-project communications.
- Recruit personnel to grow the Mining Practice in the East Region, including expanding service offerings and capabilities.
- Serve as an active member of relevant local and regional organizations, present at industry events, and mentor project teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or related discipline.
- PE in a minimum of one state. Multiple states preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years related industry experience.
- Minimum of 10 years mining project management experience.
- Experience in managing mining projects to a successful conclusion (under budget, on schedule, solid safety and quality records).
- Familiarity with multiple commodities, soft and hard-rock mining operations, studies, design, and execution from exploration to closure and reclamation, greenfields and brownfields.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Excellent competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- MSHA certification.
- Open pit and underground mine experience.
- Consulting and operations experience in mining.
- Block modeling experience.
- Experience working for a mine operating company.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field.
- 10+ years experience in related field.
- Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience.
- Experienced in development and management of diverse teams.
- Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.
- Committed to quality, improvement, and HDR values.

Pay, Benefits & Schedule
The expected compensation range for this position is $154,350 - $219,999.
