About the role

As a student in an approved registered nurse or practical nurse school of nursing, the Earn as You Learn Tech participates in clinical course work under the direction of an RN. The role assists in the individualized care of patients to achieve their highest level of wellness, works cooperatively with others as part of the healthcare team, and performs designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks within the scope of the designated nursing school program. This position is specifically designated for individuals enrolled in an accredited nursing program seeking clinical experience as part of their education curriculum. It is a voluntary learning opportunity aimed at fulfilling educational requirements and gaining hands‑on experience in a healthcare setting, with supervision from licensed healthcare professionals to enhance clinical skills, develop critical thinking, and apply theoretical knowledge to real‑life patient care scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Participate in clinical course work under the direction of an RN.
• Assist in the individualized care of patients to achieve the highest level of wellness.
• Work cooperatively with the healthcare team.
• Perform designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks within the scope of the nursing school program.
• Work under supervision of licensed healthcare professionals to enhance clinical skills, develop critical thinking, and apply theoretical knowledge to real‑life patient care scenarios.

Requirements

• Be in the final semester of an accredited LPN or RN program (May 2027 graduate).
• Complete the senior practicum at Mercy Hospital Washington.
• Arrange to request a unit through your school at Mercy South for placement.
• Accept a nursing role at Mercy Washington on your preceptorship unit (minimum 6‑month commitment).
• Begin applying to Graduate Nurse opportunities ASAP.

Pay

$2,000 stipend (taxed) upon successful completion of the senior practicum.
