Early Learning Preschool - Instructional Assistant

About the role

Under the guidance of the classroom teacher, the Instructional Assistant provides essential support with the implementation of the Early Learning Preschool instructional program.

Responsibilities

• Provides one on one instruction or tutoring with students
• Provides behavioral support to students
• Assists with classroom management and behavior modification
• Assists with field trips, community-based instruction, and other activities
• Assists students with personal care tasks
• Assists with creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials
• Reports student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assists with student resolution
• Assists with breakfast, lunch and snack, including clean-up
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Regular attendance is required

Qualifications

• Must have completed a minimum of 42 semester hours from a regionally accredited college or university or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
• General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in classrooms
• Ability to maintain records and confidentiality
• Ability to operate audio visual, standard office and computer equipment
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and administrators
• Must be able to follow oral and written directions
• Must be able to maintain order within a classroom independent of the teacher
• Possess a working knowledge of computers

Physical requirements

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally
• May assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues
• Frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear

Schedule

10-month/204-day/7.25 hour per day. Full-time.

Pay

Minimum annual salary: $30,066
