Early Learning Floater Teacher

About the role

We are hiring a full-time Early Learning Floater Teacher to join our DuPage Early Learning Team. This position supports a team approach to planning and implementing program activities, collaborating with staff, families, and site partners to enhance classroom experiences and child development.

Responsibilities

• Support a team approach to planning and implementing program activities in collaboration with Family Support Workers, Teachers, Program Aides, site partners, and the site supervisor.
• Participate in ongoing CLASS implementation and monitoring.
• Guide and facilitate children’s activities, ensuring appropriate child guidance, discipline, and proper staff-to-child ratios at all times.
• Attend all mandated trainings and set and achieve professional development goals; track development in Gateways.
• Use Teaching Strategies Gold to maintain high-quality documentation of school readiness skills and maintain Interrater Reliability.
• Communicate with families through monthly newsletters and family conference forms using Teaching Strategies Gold.
• Implement the program’s Planned Language Approach to support dual language learners and their families.
• Schedule and conduct education home visits with teaching staff to discuss individual development, progress, and assist parents in developing educational goals for their child.
• Maintain accurate teacher and child files.
• Ensure all transportation safety procedures are followed, including utilization of the bus attendance log if applicable.
• Ensure accurate completion of CACFP documents in conjunction with teaching staff.
• Build and maintain positive, ongoing relationships with parents, volunteers, and staff.
• Work with the site supervisor and family support worker to exchange information pertinent to the identification and services of children with disabilities.
• Conduct and/or oversee screening of all children within prescribed time frames using developmental, social-emotional, and other prescribed screening tools.
• Ensure curriculum is used with fidelity, including submission of weekly lesson plans with individualization for all children, and monitoring and facilitating accommodations listed in IEPs and IFSPs.
• Provide a supportive, caring, and safe environment for children.
• Use the playground as an extension of the classroom, ensuring safety at all times.
• Provide active supervision to ensure the safety of children in the classroom, during transitions, at transportation times, and on the playground; ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised.
• Provide home visiting services to maintain family support as needed.
• Assist in the development of the agency’s annual program self-assessment.
• Participate in program recruitment efforts to maintain full enrollment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 21 credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or related field with 21 credit hours in Early Childhood preferred.
• Experience in planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including improving preschool readiness through literacy awareness and learning approaches.

• Frequent talking, hearing, and use of hands and fingers to handle or operate objects or controls.
• Occasional standing, bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
• Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.

Pay

The average starting salary for this position ranges from $40,000 to $45,000 annually, based on skill and experience level.
