About the role

The Early Head Start Teacher position is aimed at individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of young children. This role involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate, individualized experiences in a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 0 to 3 years. Responsibilities include planning and participating in parent education, parent involvement, and family support activities. The position is part of the Early Education Division, which administers center-based Head Start and Early Head Start programs, along with community resources and referrals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, care for, and ensure the safety and well-being of children in the classroom
  • Support and promote each child’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, site team members, community agencies, and partners
  • Implement a multicultural and age-appropriate curriculum that meets the needs and interests of students and complies with local and federal standards
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records evaluating children’s growth and development, including health records, observations, lesson plans, attendance, meal counts, parent involvement, and family support
  • Develop and implement Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) for children with disabilities and plan classroom experiences to support the IFSP plan
  • Carry out emergency and safety procedures, administer first aid and CPR as needed

Requirements

  • One year of experience teaching in a licensed childcare or public pre-kindergarten setting
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Currently possess an Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential OR currently enrolled in a program leading to an Associate's degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or an equivalent college degree with 18 credits in early childhood education, child development, or infant/toddler development to be completed within six months of hire

Qualifications

Pay

$42,500 - $65,000 annually, salary offers based on experience and internal equity

Schedule

Full-time, 2,088 hours annually, typically Monday through Friday
