About the role
As an Early Head Start Teacher, you will provide a safe, clean, and nurturing learning environment for children. You will report to an Early Head Start Supervising Teacher and work onsite.
Retention bonus: $5,000 (paid in 4 parts: 1/4 at 6 months, 1/4 at a year, 1/4 at 18 months, and 1/4 at 2 years).
Available shifts: Monday - Friday between 7:30 am - 5:00 pm (no weekends).
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate classroom management skills, work as part of a team, and complete records, reports, and data collection.
- Individualize curriculum based on each child's specific strengths and areas of need.
- Facilitate screenings and ongoing assessments for assigned children.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use both in learning activities and imaginative play.
- Supervise and interact with children during family-style mealtimes and activities.
- Demonstrate respect for families' values, strengths, and culture by welcoming their contributions and participation, and designing learning experiences accordingly.
- Engage in training and learning opportunities, including those focused on learning and implementing curricula, classroom design, and management.
- Follow fire drills, shelter-in-place, intruder, or any emergency procedures to safely assist children following protocols.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, and supervise infants and toddlers in classroom and playground settings.
- Daily duties include sitting on the floor, engaging in child-centered activities, and moving fluidly between bending, kneeling, and squatting positions.
- Respond quickly to active children and emergencies, and lift children or equipment up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) OR Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Up to and including 6 months of experience.
