About the role

9NEWS, Colorado’s news leader and a TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate, is seeking an experienced Afternoon News Producer. This role requires a creative storyteller, strong writer, and decisive newsroom leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can produce compelling content for #1 afternoon newscasts.

Responsibilities

  • Produce engaging afternoon newscasts
  • React quickly to breaking news and manage control-room timing
  • Write, edit, and organize rundowns with strong editorial judgment
  • Collaborate with anchors, reporters, photographers, editors, and story desk teams
  • Balance hard news, weather, sports, politics, and feature content
  • Create content for broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of full-time news producing experience
  • Degree in journalism, communications, or related field
  • Strong breaking news instincts and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively under tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with newsroom technology and production workflows
  • Commitment to viewer-focused, accurate, and impactful journalism
  • Produce mobile short videos daily

Pay Range

$28.84 - $33.65 USD
