About the role

Assist in conducting intensified learning experience for students in assigned area and relieve teacher of various non-instructional duties.

Affords support to teachers in managing student arrival and departure times.

Performs supportive tasks, primarily of a non-instructional nature, for a certified teacher.

Maintains discipline in the absence of the teacher.

Helps maintain a neat and orderly classroom.

Tutors students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activities.

Helps teacher supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom, including hall, lunchroom, auditorium, gym, and playground monitoring.

Helps teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.

Assists teacher with copying, organizing, and filing materials for distribution to students.

Helps with the inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.

Keeps teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

Participates in staff-development training programs to improve job performance.

Participates in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

Helps decorate the classroom for special events, PTA meetings, holidays, etc.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or USA equivalency.
  • Associate Degree or 48 College credit hours or pass an academic assessment.
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
  • Six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants is preferred.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants is preferred.

Minimum Salary: $28,342.00

Median Salary: $35,424.00
