Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on care and supervise children, ensuring their safety, health, and well-being throughout the day.
- Lead the planning and delivery of developmentally appropriate, play-based lessons aligned with Ohio’s Early Learning Standards.
- Observe, assess, and document children’s development to guide individualized instruction and classroom planning.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that reflects children’s interests, supports all areas of development, and meets Ohio Step Up To Quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with Ohio licensing requirements, center policies, and classroom procedures.
- Prepare and organize classroom materials, learning centers, and schedules to support active engagement and learning.
- Foster nurturing relationships, encourage positive behaviors, and model social-emotional skills.
- Communicate effectively with families about children’s progress, needs, and daily experiences.
- Collaborate with team members, administrators, and community partners to support children’s learning, developmental transitions, and overall well-being.
- Supervise routines such as meals, snacks, and rest periods, ensuring health, safety, and program standards are maintained.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age and possess a H.S. diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate degree in early childhood education or a closely related field, or valid Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential required.
- Demonstrated experience engaging and caring for young children in an educational setting.
- Must have or obtain the following trainings within three (3) months of employment: Infant & Child First Aid & CPR, Common Childhood Communicable Disease, Recognition and Prevention of Child Abuse.
- Shall not have any convictions of child abuse or crimes involving moral turpitude.
- Must have a fingerprint check by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
