About the role
The Early Childhood STEAM Teacher at Sherman ECC leads a dynamic Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) program designed to build on young children's curiosity and foster their development in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement STEAM lessons for each classroom (toddlers-PreK) aligned with developmental stages, Sherman ECC’s core values, and educational philosophies.
- Facilitate scientific inquiry and provide opportunities and experiences for children to develop science skills and conceptual understanding.
- Guide exploration using scientific tools such as microscopes, cameras, engineering materials, measuring instruments, light tables.
- Create a learning environment that encourages children to express their ideas, ask questions, plan investigations, and share findings.
- Cultivate the Four C’s: foster creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication.
- Document learning experiences through pictures and journaling for families and the school.
- Collaborate with the Sherman ECC team and families, participating in team meetings and parent engagement events.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported.
- Partner closely with the Director of Early Childhood and Curriculum Director (Pedagogista) to create learning experiences that reflect best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in early childhood education, education with science specialization, or a relevant field.
- Experience teaching children aged 2–5, preferably in STEAM or inquiry-based settings.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and play-based learning.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm for continual learning, creativity, and innovation in STEAM teaching.
- Alignment with Sherman ECC’s values—empathy, kindness, respect, inclusion—and commitment to Jewish traditions and community engagement.
Additional Details
- Schedule: Part time position working 1.5 mornings and 4-5 afternoons a week.
- Compensation: Competitive, based on experience.
