The Role
The Office of Early Childhood of the Archdiocese of New York (OEC) seeks to expand the Early Childhood team of Instructional Specialists who support the 3K and 4K programs in our Staten Island region.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with school building and regional leaders, teachers, the team of Early Childhood Social Workers (ECSW), and the NYC Department of Education's Division of Early Childhood to provide the highest quality of early childhood programming to New York City's youngest learners.
- Report directly to the Associate Superintendent for Early Childhood.
- Support the implementation of all components of a high-quality prekindergarten program.
- Ensure compliance with NYCPS Birth through 5 policies and procedures and NYC Dept of Health Childcare regulations for School-based programs.
- Build strong relationships with families and the community.
Requirements
- A vision for high-quality instruction in early childhood classrooms.
- Experience coaching and/or providing professional development to adults in an educational setting.
- Awareness of current trends and innovations in Early Childhood Education.
- Knowledge of the NYCPS Birth through 5 policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with the NYC Dept of Health Childcare regulations for School-based programs.
- A history of success in successfully working in an inclusive and diverse work environment.
- A working knowledge of early childhood developmental screening tools and assessments.
- Experience with Creative Curriculum and CLASS.
Qualifications
- An MS in Early Childhood Education, and/or Early Childhood Special Education.
- New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood (Birth-2).
- Minimum of five years of previous Early Childhood teaching experience.
- Ability to travel independently to schools and offices within the Archdiocesan region of Staten Island, Manhattan and the Bronx.
- Compliance with NYC DOH Article 43 training and medical documentation.
- Referral from a current supervisor.
Benefits
A comprehensive benefits package is included for full-time (12 month) positions. Part-time (school year) options with prorated salary may be considered.
Pay
$75,000 - $85,000 per year.
Schedule
12-month position. Start date: August 2026.
