Early Childhood Educator

About the role

SmartStart Education seeks an Early Childhood Educator to support classrooms with children ages 2 to 5 on Mondays through Fridays. The Educator will work with children several times throughout the week at a pre-kindergarten school in East Village Manhattan, NY 10009. Coverage will take place within the classroom (push-in services). Educators should be flexible and comfortable with classroom settings. The Educator will be given the responsibility of taking daily attendance and monitoring student progress using a personal device (mobile phone).

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited institution (anticipated graduation dates not accepted)
• At least two years of demonstrated experience in early childhood education, in a school or other educational setting
• Mastery of pre-kindergarten concepts and skills
• Comprehensive understanding of challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, including racial, socio-economic, and cultural disparities
• Genuine passion and unwavering commitment to fostering student success
• Exemplary punctuality and adherence to schedules
• Proficiency in communication skills for effective interaction with students, colleagues, and stakeholders
• Ability to commute to the designated location in East Village, Manhattan, NY 10009
• Ability to navigate a school environment, including walking through hallways, classrooms, and stairways throughout the workday

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST
• Position begins November 9, 2026 and ends February 26, 2027

Pay

$24.30 – $27.00 per hour
