Geosyntec has an opportunity for an early-career Environmental Engineer or Scientist to join our environmental due diligence practice in our Seattle, Bainbridge Island, or Bellingham, Washington offices. This position offers a hybrid work schedule at the company's discretion and the chance to leverage academic knowledge and practical experience in addressing environmental due diligence and regulatory compliance for diverse national private and public-sector clients, while developing key business skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support due diligence projects requiring substantial historical research, including ASTM-compliant Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Assist with environmental compliance services, including multimedia compliance audits and reviews.
  • Prepare compliance documents and permit applications related to the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
  • Conduct fieldwork, including soil, vapor/air, surface water, and groundwater sampling; and drilling and contractor oversight.
  • Build task, project, and client management skills.
  • Evaluate data and prepare maps, tables, and figures.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and proposals.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client, project, office, and other business locations, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, chemistry, biology, engineering, or a related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in a related discipline. (preferred)
  • At least 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
  • Local to the posted locations. (preferred)
  • Previous environmental consulting internship experience. (preferred)
  • Prior research experience related to environmental contamination and remediation. (preferred)
  • Ability to conduct occasional fieldwork and overnight travel. (preferred)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and related on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • This position does not offer visa sponsorship.

Health and safety training, medical monitoring, and client-required drug and background testing may be required.

Pay

Below are the potential compensation ranges for this role in the specified locations:

  • Seattle, Bainbridge Island: $28.54/hour – $37.48/hour or $80,168/year – $106,945/year
  • Bellingham: $27.24/hour – $37.48/hour or $80,168/year – $102,080/year
