Early-Career Air Quality Engineer

About the role

The position will apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations in the areas of air quality permitting and compliance, emission control technology evaluation, and air dispersion modeling for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Responsibilities

• Conducting regulatory analyses related to air quality matters as driven by the Clean Air Act;
• Preparing air emissions inventories and emissions calculations;
• Carrying out air dispersion modeling;
• Developing air quality permit applications under NSR, PSD, Title V, and state-level regulations;
• Performing analyses related to air pollution control systems and source monitoring and measurement requirements.

Requirements

• Previous experience in air quality permitting and compliance experience, preferably with an environmental consulting firm, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with air quality modeling (SCREEN3 and AERMOD).
• Experience in environmental compliance services (stormwater, spill planning, hazardous waste, etc.) and compliance auditing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental or chemical engineering or related discipline.
• (Preferred) Advanced degree in the same.
• (Preferred) Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or equivalent, if applicable.

Pay

• Minimum Salary: $70,520/year / Maximum Salary: $88,150 /year (Columbia, MD)
• Minimum Salary: $73,880/year / Maximum Salary: $92,350 /year (Washington, DC)

Schedule

• Occasional field work and overnight travel.
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
