E911 Dispatcher I/Trainee

About the role

Receives and prioritizes emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public. Evaluates and dispatches appropriate emergency service agencies such as police, fire, and emergency medical units. Maintains radio communications with public safety units in the field, retrieves and enters computer data, and operates TDD/TTY and other related communications equipment.

Work is performed under general supervision by the Dispatch/Communications Shift Supervisor and the Director.

Responsibilities

• Process information using a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system.
• Prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Dispatch appropriate emergency service agencies.
• Maintain radio communications with field units.
• Retrieve and enter data into computer systems.
• Operate TDD/TTY and other communications equipment.
