Responsibilities
- Performs routine building maintenance tasks
- Assists building maintenance technicians with maintenance tasks in various fields such as carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
- Combines knowledge of mechanical technology with electrical circuits for installation, operation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electro/mechanical systems
- Works with engineers to develop electrical/mechanical systems in support of product development and production line work
- Assembles and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies
- Operates metal working machines (e.g., drill press, band saws)
- Tests electro-mechanical assemblies for proper operation
- Reads manufacturing outlines for electronic products, reads schematics, and understands technical operating, service or repair manuals
- Maintains monitoring processes, materials, or surroundings by detecting or assessing problems
- Communicates with supervisors, peers, or subordinates by providing information through various means
- Develops and trains lower classified employees as needed
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of formal technical training (via military or civilian technical schools)
- Seven (7) or more years of electrical or mechanical experience
Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand technical operating, service or repair manuals
- Knowledge of mechanical technology and electrical circuits
- Ability to operate metal working machines and test electro-mechanical assemblies
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and product development
