E&I Maintenance Technician

Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Maintenance Technician responsible for safely performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on electrical and process-control systems that support reliable pulp and paper mill operations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain equipment such as motors, variable-frequency drives, motor control centers, switchgear, PLCs, DCS systems, flow meters, pressure sensors, control valves, and other industrial instrumentation.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, and complete effective repairs to minimize downtime and restore production safely.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Document completed work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Provide clear updates during shift handovers.
• Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to coordinate repairs and planned maintenance activities.
• Comply with workplace safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout, arc-flash, confined-space, and PPE requirements.

Requirements

• At least three years of industrial electrical and instrumentation experience, preferably in a pulp or paper mill.
• Strong knowledge of 480V and 4160V electrical systems, motor controls, PLCs, DCS controls, and process instrumentation.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment with noise, dust, temperature changes, climbing, lifting, and confined spaces.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts—including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Successful completion of the company’s entry assessment, written E&I test, and hands-on skills test.
