Position Overview

The E-Discovery Technical and Legal Support resource provides combined technical and legal eDiscovery support to the DOJ Justice Management Division (JMD) e-discovery program. The JMD e-discovery program includes projects that may not be directly related to litigation but incorporate similar e-discovery business processes, such as support for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and Congressional requests for information.

Program Context

This position supports the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) under the anticipated MEGA 6 procurement. MEGA 6 is expected to continue DOJ’s multiple-award contract vehicle for automated litigation support (ALS) services, following the structure of the MEGA 5 contract. These contracts are designed to provide DOJ offices, boards, divisions, and other federal agencies with information technology, professional services, and litigation support tools to manage complex legal proceedings efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide combined technical and legal eDiscovery support to the JMD e-discovery program.
  • Support e-discovery business processes for litigation and non-litigation projects, including FOIA and Congressional requests for information.
  • Advise legal and technical staff on eDiscovery processes, tools, and best practices across the discovery lifecycle.
  • Support data collection, processing, review, analytics, and production activities.
  • Cook up between legal teams and technical staff to ensure proper communication and defensible processes.
  • Prepare reports and metrics on the status of eDiscovery efforts.
  • Stay current on emerging eDiscovery technology, processes, and legal developments.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance prior to start (candidates are not required to be cleared at the time of application).
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
  • Experience providing eDiscovery technical and/or legal support on complex matters.
  • Thorough understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), including collection, processing, review, analytics, and production.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard eDiscovery tools and platforms (e.g., Relativity).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Undergraduate degree required; law degree, paralegal training, or eDiscovery certifications preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior DOJ or federal eDiscovery / litigation support experience.
  • eDiscovery-related technical certifications.

Work Environment And Physical Demands

This is a fully remote position; work is performed from a home office. Must be located in or near the Washington, DC area and available for short-notice on-site meetings. Work is primarily sedentary, performed while using a computer for extended periods of time.
