E-Beam Operator - 3rd Shift

About the role

Judd Wire, a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is seeking a 3rd Shift E-Beam (Irradiation) Operator in their Turners Falls, MA facility.

Job Duties

• Perform required operations within the Irradiation Department adhering to strict standards in the processing of wire and cable.
• Work from SOP’s, work orders, schedules, written and verbal instructions as to set up and operate irradiation equipment control panel.
• Adhere to programmed specifications, maintain records in BPCS system.
• Maintain continual check on control of samples to ensure insulated wire is receiving proper irradiation.
• Spot operations should equipment failure result in not adhering to dosage specifications.
• Check wire and cable before stringing up on machine; restring if breaks.
• Refer product work to proper department if received for irradiation in an improper condition.
• Maintain log on equipment, performance, hours and other similar information as instructed.
• May assist others in minor repairs, outer/inner irradiation vault as appropriate.
• Clean wire path line to maintain clean product coming out of vault.
• Cross train on all E beams and rotate between as scheduled.
• Detect and report defective materials, malfunctioning equipment, unusual conditions to supervision.
• Observe all safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain equipment and work areas in clean and orderly condition.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• 1-3 month’s transferrable experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Team player with the willingness to learn
• Knowledge of ordinary arithmetic including decimals, fractions, and simple use of specifications together with use of adjustable measuring instruments
• Moderate physical effort consisting of frequently moving average weights and continuous mental and visual attention to repetitive work, requiring constant alertness or activity

Pay

Minimum Hourly Rate: $20.32/hour, $3.00/hour 3rd shift differential.
