Job Summary

Judd Wire, Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, seeks a 3rd Shift E-Beam (Irradiation) Operator in their Turners Falls, MA facility. The position involves performing required operations within the Irradiation Department while adhering to strict standards and providing targeted job training.

Job Duties

  • Work from Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work orders, schedules, and verbal/instructional guidelines to set up and operate irradiation equipment control panels.
  • Adhere to programmed specifications and maintain records in BPCS system.
  • Maintain continuous checks on sample control to ensure insulated wire receives proper irradiation.
  • Check wire and cable before stringing up on machine; restring if breaks.
  • Refer product work to proper departments if received in an improper condition.
  • Maintain logs on equipment, performance, hours, and other similar information as instructed.
  • May assist in minor repairs, outer/inner irradiation vaults as appropriate.
  • Clean wire path line to maintain clean product coming out of vault.
  • Cross-train on all E beams and rotate between as scheduled.
  • Detect and report defective materials, malfunctioning equipment, unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in clean and orderly condition.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 months’ transferrable experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of ordinary arithmetic including decimals, fractions, and simple use of specifications.
  • Moderate physical effort consisting of frequent movement of average weights and continuous mental and visual attention to repetitive work.
