About the role

The Navy E-6 is an airborne command post and communications relay based on the Boeing 707 platform. The aircraft are utilized primarily for long-range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries. This platform, now modified to the E-6B standard, conveys instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines, a mission known as TACAMO ("Take Charge And Move Out"). These positions are Service Contract Act positions.

Responsibilities

  • Makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker
  • Assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems
  • Removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings, bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft
  • Makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments
  • Obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples
  • Performs pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
  • Enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum 1 year relevant experience OR 1 yr of additional education/technical school, such as an A&P course
  • Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours
  • Able to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability to travel)
  • Able to wear respirator or other safety gear
  • Able to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spaces
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Qualifications

  • A&P License
  • Prior E-6B/707 aircraft experience
  • Currently enrolled in A&P Program or recently completed an A&P Program

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $28.39 - $28.39

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
