Dyeing Lead | Monday - Friday

About the role

Assist the Supervisor in the daily operation of the shift, with an emphasis on training and quality improvement. Maintain a working knowledge of all Kuster jobs to relieve, replace, or assist operating personnel during absences or unscheduled downtime.

Responsibilities

• Verify job procedures by observation to ensure all jobs on the line are performed correctly, including greige roll lay-up, sew-on, operation of tanks, pumps, lines, and valves for batch runs, Instacolor, fluid-dyer, steamers, SST, chemical application, dryer, and roll-up equipment.
• Inspect dyed rolls and maintain required reports.
• Perform required computer data entry and close-outs.
• Conduct on-the-job training with new line employees as needed.
• Provide directions, instructions, and guidance to all line personnel.
• Assist with shade matching on carpet by visual inspection.
• Line up production by speed groups and color sequencing.
• Arrive 30 minutes prior to shift change when required.
• Monitor operations to ensure a quality product is being produced.
• Fill in for the supervisor when needed (disciplinary action remains with the Supervisor or Department Manager).
• Assist in keeping work areas clean and orderly.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass the Munsell Color Test.
• Basic computer skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Leadership abilities for motivating employees.
• Ability to follow through with instructions, handle stress, and stay focused.
• Manual dexterity to perform all aspects of the job.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Work in a normal industrial environment with inherent background noise, dirt, humidity, and temperature variations.
• Work near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places.
• Handle dyes and chemicals.
