About the role

Village Veterinary Hospital, established in 2006 in Mount Juliet, TN, is seeking an extern and future full-time veterinarian to join our experienced and caring team. Responsibilities

  • Participate in medical and surgical procedures under supervision
  • Engage in the diagnostic process, including interpreting fecal samples, blood smears, radiographic images, urinalysis, and CBC/Chemistry panels
  • Develop hands-on technical skills in a supportive environment
  • Provide compassionate care to pets and clients throughout their healthcare journey
  • Contribute to urgent and emergency care services, managing diverse and challenging medical cases

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Active enrollment in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program at an accredited university, graduating in 2027
  • Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
  • Compassionate, team-player attitude and respect for clients and their pets
  • Authorization to work in the United States

What To Expect

  • Gain broad clinical experience with mentorship and supervision from experienced veterinarians

This externship includes a $1,000/week stipend and serves as a direct pathway to a full-time doctor position for qualified candidates. There is no obligation, and both parties can evaluate fit before committing to a permanent role.
