About the role

This position is within the Facilities and General Services department at Sanford Health, located in Sioux Falls, SD. The role involves providing comprehensive support in the DME industry, including intake processes, product selection, dispensing, documentation, and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with patients, caregivers, and providers regarding the coverage, use, and benefits of DME products related to CPAP, BiPAP and oxygen therapy.
  • Gather all necessary documentation and input new patient demographics and ordering information into the computer system.
  • Educate patients on CPAP, BiPAP, oxygen therapy and supplies associated with devices.
  • Assist patients with product selection, recommending medically appropriate, cost-effective DME to meet the patient's needs.
  • Provide fitting and patient education on application, use, care and cleaning of equipment.
  • Furnish patients with resources, including but not limited to, Customer Handbook, contact numbers, product manuals, reorder information, and educational materials.
  • Process paperwork and confirm accuracy of delivery tickets and complete the sale orders.
  • Resolve customer concerns, questions, and complaints by identifying problems and coordinating appropriate corrective action.
  • Anticipate patient needs and respond quickly to patient requests.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and sanitized store.
  • Complete tasks with minimum supervision, exercising independent judgment.
  • May be required to work after store hours in an on-call capacity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of computer functions and basic Microsoft Office applications.
  • Detail oriented, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to follow through to the end.
  • Basic knowledge of the medical field, with prior experience in home medical equipment preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current valid driver’s license.
  • Meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers.

Skills

Knowledge and understanding of CPAP, BIPAP and oxygen therapy. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and providers. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Prior experience in home medical equipment is preferred.
