About the Role
This is a dual-position role where the primary responsibility is as a Heavy Cleaner, with the secondary responsibility to fill in as an EVS Shift Supervisor when needed. The Heavy Cleaner ensures the cleanliness of all public and non-public areas according to casino standards. The EVS Shift Supervisor assists in managing the Environmental Services department on an assigned shift.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of the casino, hotel lobby, spa/salon, back of house, and restaurants using cleaning machines such as buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaning machines, and escalator cleaning machines.
- Perform individual and group cleaning assignments, including light cleaning tasks such as restroom and floor attendant duties.
- Work with various cleaning chemicals and maintain knowledge of their proper use.
- Assist in other projects as directed.
- Comply with all information security policies and procedures, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patrons and communicate professionally with staff and management.
- Adhere to attendance guidelines, regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment.
- Attend necessary meetings.
- As EVS Shift Supervisor (secondary position):
- Oversee Environmental Services operations, including cleaning of the casino, hotel lobby, spa/salon, public access areas, restaurants, and banquet rooms.
- Assist with instruction and training of EVS staff.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Monitor facility appearance through checklists and visual inspections.
- Monitor inventory/supplies and recommend purchases to supervisors.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Six months of satisfactory experience as a Heavy Cleaner.
- Familiarity with proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Knowledge of operating cleaning machines such as buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaning machines, and escalator cleaning machines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
- Ability to resolve problems and conflicts diplomatically.
Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Previous housekeeping experience a plus.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and scheduling software preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Must be able to work with various cleaning chemicals and agents.
- Physical stamina and mental resilience to work under pressure in a fast-paced casino environment.
- Ability to work in environments with moderate to loud noise levels, including areas where smoking is permitted.
Pay
Starting rate: $16.00 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
