Dual BH Specialist

About the role

This is boots-on-the-ground, relationship-driven, high-impact work with individuals living with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. You’ll provide integrated dual diagnosis treatment in the community, deliver intensive case management with real autonomy, stabilize crises, and help clients secure housing, benefits, medical care, and employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and ASAM-based service planning
• Build strengths-based treatment plans with clients
• Provide crisis stabilization and risk assessments in community settings
• Use Motivational Interviewing and IDDT to move clients through stages of change
• Facilitate groups, provide psychoeducation, and deliver evidence-based interventions
• Collect client history via interviewing, records review, and consultation (with written consent)
• Participate in clinical staff meetings and case conferences to facilitate individual service plans
• Assess, triage, and respond to psychiatric and substance abuse crises in the community
• Perform risk assessments and evaluate level-of-care needs
• Monitor and assure clients’ health and safety needs are met
• Quickly and accurately assess client needs and potential barriers to service
• Utilize evidence-based practices in individual and group formats
• Maintain client records per state, federal, local, program, and funding requirements
• Work within scope of training and seek consultation when appropriate
• Attend all mandatory CCC trainings in a timely manner
• Adhere to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and CCC confidentiality policies; immediately report any breach of protected health information
• Participate in outreach to offer services and engage participation in a non-coercive manner
• Escort clients to meetings and appointments as necessary
• Conduct education and support groups using approved curriculum
• Collaborate with housing providers and coordinate residential and non-residential treatment and service planning
• Participate in admission and discharge planning; make client contact within one working day of admission
• Provide testimony and advocacy with courts and other agencies
• Coordinate services with all members of a client’s support network
• Participate in training opportunities to advance skills and knowledge in addictions and mental health

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or three years of relevant work experience specializing in chemical dependency and mental health treatment
• QMHA-R certification required
• CADC-R certification required
• Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA
• Current CPR certification prior to start date
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check (including DHS Background Check Unit clearance)
• Ability to adhere to CCC’s drug-free workplace policy
• OAR prohibits A&D program staff from having, within the previous three years, a DUI conviction or diversion, a felony conviction, or a conviction under the Uniform Controlled Substances Act
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull, and lift heavy objects; climb stairs several times a day
• Must be able to carry an agency cell phone; if using a personal vehicle for agency use, must possess a valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, acceptable auto liability coverage, and pass initial driver training within 60 days and continued recertification

• Advanced knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, IDDT, and other evidence-based interventions
• Continued education in crisis assessment and response
• Ability to identify client needs and develop corresponding plans
• Skill in quickly and accurately performing risk assessments
• Ability to differentiate client presentation across multiple dimensions
• Understanding of expected symptomatic behaviors and how to manage them
• Ability to recognize methods to achieve identified behavioral goals
• Capacity to assess client needs, family dynamics, and potential barriers to service
• Demonstrated counseling techniques with individuals and groups
• Ability to work effectively with peers, clients, and groups; establish priorities; apply principles to new situations
• Non-judgmental attitude and ability to display it consistently
• Knowledge of community and social service agencies
• Skills in mental health and chemical dependency treatment methods
• Clear oral and written communication; ability to work courteously with the public, clients, medical personnel, corrections personnel, police, and coworkers
• Ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of de-escalation methods or ability to be trained

• Competitive hourly compensation ($26.30–$34.90/hr; final comp based on experience, education, credentials/licensure, and internal equity; external candidates capped at $30.52/hr per union contract)
