Join Our Team at Central City Concern’s 16 x Burnside Recovery Center. Are you passionate about transforming lives through evidence-based, person-centered care? As a Dual Behavioral Health Clinician, you would be a vital part of a multi-disciplinary team providing intensive residential treatment for individuals navigating severe substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Collect information regarding clients’ history through a combination of interviewing, records review, and consultation; after obtaining written consent.
  • Conduct and document substance use disorder & mental health assessments, including mental status exam, ASAM level of care, DSM diagnosis, and clinical formulation.
  • Develop strengths-based treatment plan and collaborative problem solving with clients.
  • Participate in clinical staff meetings and case conferences with team members in order to utilize interdisciplinary expertise and facilitate individual service plans for clients.
  • Support clients in accessing off-site appointments and collaboration meetings as necessary, to include court appearances.
  • Provide substance use and mental health treatment groups for clients, including addiction as a disease process, recovery, Trauma Informed Care components, and life skills.
  • Facilitate mental health and substance use treatment groups for clients, including addiction as a disease process, recovery, Trauma Informed Care components, and life skills.
  • Assess, triage and respond to mental health and substance abuse crisis in the most effective, efficient, and safe manner possible.
  • Monitor and ensure the health and safety needs of clients are met.
  • Maintain client records as required by State, Federal, local and program standards and funding requirements.
  • Works within scope of training and experience and seeks consultation when appropriate.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings.
  • Attend all mandatory CCC training in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.
  • Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners’ and outside providers’ patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access.
  • Collaborate with partnering agencies, including DHS Child Welfare and the Department of Justice.
  • Provide testimony and advocacy with courts and other agencies.
  • Coordinate services with all members of client’s support network.
  • Participate in training opportunities to advance skills and knowledge in substance use disorders and mental health.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities as directed.
  • Affirmatively assist with the development of an integrated treatment program.

Requirements

  • CADC-1 or greater required.
  • Experience in mental health and substance use treatment preferred.
  • Competencies necessary to: Identify precipitating events, gather histories of mental, emotional and physical disabilities, alcohol and drug use, past mental health services and criminal justice contacts, assess family, social and work relationships, conduct a mental status assessment, document a multiaxial DSM diagnosis, write and implement or supervise implementation of a treatment plan, conduct and document a mental health assessment.
  • Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA.
  • Have, or able to obtain, Adult CPR prior to start date.
  • Must have current Adult First Aid Certification prior to start date.
  • Must become a certified Director’s Custody designee in Multnomah County within the first 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern’s drug-free workplace.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check.
  • Must have the ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects, and climb stairs with reasonable or no accommodation.
  • Will be required to carry an agency cell phone for work use.
  • Must pass an initial drivers training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training.
  • Must maintain vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 personal auto liability coverage.
  • Must adhere to agency’s non-discrimination policies.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, life-styles, and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.

Qualifications

Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and trauma-informed care.
  • Continued education in crisis assessment and crisis response.
  • Able to identify client needs and develop plans to address those needs.
  • Able to quickly and accurately perform risk assessments.
  • Able to differentiate client presentation in various domains.
  • Able to understand client related symptomatic behaviors might be expected and how to manage them.
  • Able to recognize methods to achieve the identified behavioral goals.
  • Able to quickly and accurately assess the needs of individual clients, family dynamics and potential barriers to service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community and social service agencies.
  • Knowledge and skills in mental health treatment methods.
  • Knowledge and skills in substance use treatment methods.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in an environment where people may be hostile or abusive.
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work courteously and effectively communicate with the general public, clients, medical personnel, corrections personnel, police, and co-workers.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation methods.
