About the Organization

The Stiftung Kinderjahre has been committed to improving educational and developmental opportunities for children and young people in Hamburg since 2004. Together with numerous Hamburg schools, we design projects and programs that strengthen, promote, and support young individuals. Our central focus is on equal opportunity. Through diverse initiatives, we create access to education, culture, movement, and social participation—making a sustainable contribution to the future of our city.

Family and school play a crucial role in the development of children and adolescents, while societal influences shape their daily lives and perspectives. The Stiftung Kinderjahre takes responsibility here: as a strong partner to schools, families, and local stakeholders, we create spaces where children can discover and develop their potential. Our impact is visible: with over 140 projects, we reach more than 4,000 children and young people directly each year. Additionally, numerous collaborations, events, and media contacts help spread our message throughout Hamburg’s urban society: every child deserves the chance for a successful future.

Projects and Programs

• Pinsel & Pizza: A creative project combining art and community engagement.
• Learning Kids: A program supporting educational development and learning assistance.
• Natur – Klima – Umwelt & Co.: Environmental and climate-focused initiatives for children and youth.
• School breakfast, lunch, and snack programs for children in need.
• Charity-Outlet Glücks😉Griff: Providing affordable clothing to low-income individuals through donations and minor repairs.
• Volunteer-driven activities such as reading assistance, school garden projects, and theater production support.

Responsibilities

Opportunities to get involved include:

• Supporting project work, such as assisting with Learning Kids or reading programs at partner schools.
• Sorting and preparing donated clothing for the Charity-Outlet.
• Participating in Social Days with corporate teams to create school gardens, design spaces, or build stage sets for theater productions.
• Engaging in events like the Schnippel-Disco, where volunteers help prepare food for school programs.
