About the role
The Scholars Program at DTRA aims to leverage the expertise of highly qualified subject matter experts to combat and respond to weapons of mass destruction (WMD) proliferation and use. This postdoctoral scholar position supports research activities that enhance the understanding of mathematical modeling of effects on critical infrastructure networks.
Responsibilities
- Identify critical research needs and opportunities through depth of analytic thinking
- Assess and foster success of applied research efforts
- Implement new ideas into the development of research tools
- Review proposals and scientific progress
- Support funding oversight
Requirements
- Ph.D. or equivalent in physics, mathematical physics, computational engineering physics, or applied mathematics
- Preferred skills in PDEs/ODEs, numerical analysis, computational physics, FEM, FDM, CFD, Monte Carlo, pure mathematics, and/or mathematical physics
- Proficiency in PDE/ODE theory and/or mathematical physics
- Flexibility and willingness to learn/review new concepts beyond one's specialty
Qualifications
- US citizen capable of obtaining a security clearance
- Willingness to relocate to the Washington DC metropolitan area

Pay
The position is for a one-year period with a possibility of renewal.
