About the Role

Boone Supported Living is seeking experienced and dependable Direct Support Professionals to join our team in a flexible PRN coverage role. This position is ideal for experienced DSPs who want scheduling flexibility while maintaining consistent part-time hours. PRN DSPs help cover available shifts based on the needs of the individuals we support and receive an increased starting wage of $22.00 per hour.

What PRN Means at Boone Supported Living

Our PRN position is a flexible coverage role—not an on-call position and not an occasional one-shift-per-month position. PRN DSPs:

  • Do not have permanently assigned or recurring weekly shifts
  • Must average at least 16 hours per week, calculated over each three-month period
  • Submit their availability at least three weeks in advance
  • Accept or decline assigned shifts within 24 hours
  • May be asked to support different homes or service areas based on organizational needs
  • Work with our Scheduling team to select and coordinate available shifts

Pay and Incentives

  • Starting PRN wage: $22.00 per hour
  • Additional medical and behavioral shift differentials may apply
  • Eligible employees may participate in DSP Apprenticeship wage increases and bonuses
  • Additional organizational incentives may be available
  • The PRN rate includes a $3.25-per-hour premium above our standard DSP starting wage. This premium applies while the employee remains in the PRN position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Assist with daily living activities, personal care, community participation, and household routines
  • Administer medications as prescribed and document them accurately
  • Follow individualized support plans, behavioral plans, and dietary requirements
  • Complete daily notes and other required documentation
  • Help individuals work toward personal goals and greater independence
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, coworkers, managers, and the Scheduling team
  • Follow all attendance, training, professional-development, and organizational requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least six months of professional experience as a Direct Support Professional or in a comparable direct-care position
  • Ability to average at least 16 working hours per week
  • Ability to submit availability at least three weeks in advance
  • Willingness to work available shifts without a guaranteed recurring schedule
  • Dependable transportation and the ability to report to assigned work locations
  • Ability to complete all required training and employment screenings
  • Strong communication, documentation, and time-management skills
  • A dependable, flexible, and team-oriented approach

This Position May Be a Great Fit If You

  • Have previous DSP or direct-care experience
  • Want flexibility without giving up consistent earning opportunities
  • Are comfortable working in different homes and supporting different individuals
  • Can plan your availability in advance
  • Communicate reliably and respond promptly to scheduling requests
  • Want to earn a higher hourly rate by helping meet important coverage needs
