About the role
Skills Developers create a training and learning environment to support adults with developmental disabilities in acquiring job skills and advancing their careers. This role involves designing instructional methods based on clear, measurable objectives, tracking client progress, analyzing learning barriers, and creating alternative instructional plans. Services may be provided in clients’ homes, work sites, community settings, or remotely.

- Community Involvement (self-advocacy)

- Independent Living Skills
- Work with clients individually or in group settings to overcome barriers to employment and maintain meaningful jobs.
- Develop and implement personalized coaching plans for clients, both in preparation for work and at their place of employment.
- Plan, implement, and coordinate clients' overall program plans relative to employment.
- Address issues and crises related to client services promptly and effectively.
- Provide ongoing advocacy and follow-along support for each client’s individual plan.
- Act as the onsite expert and primary contact for employer partners.
- Serve as a liaison to families, circles of support, employers, case managers, and community resources.
- Assist in creating and maintaining community sites and partnerships.
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings, conferences, and training as assigned.
- Collaborate with service manager(s) to prepare annual calendars for program participant reviews and assist in facilitating case reviews and goal planning.
- Maintain up-to-date employer contacts, emergency information, and accurate client records.
- Ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at various functioning levels is preferred but not required.
- Comfortable using various technologies: Microsoft Office, smartphones, remote conference applications, app-based time clocks.
- Flexible schedule—some early morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours may be required.
- Clear communication skills, both oral and written.
- Valid California driver’s license, safe driving record, and current proof of insurability if driving on agency business.
Physical Demands
- Repetitive keyboard use, phone use, walking, standing, bending, stooping, and direct client interaction.
Work Environment
This position requires frequent travel on public transportation to different employer and community sites, as well as other The Arc San Francisco locations in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin Counties.
