Essential Job Functions (EJFs)
- Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
- Ensures adequate facility coverage and staff/individual ratios. Moves staff where needed to ensure appropriate coverage to meet the needs of the facility. Reassigns staff to non-contact positions in accordance with agency and local policy and procedures. Communicates issues with the appropriate administrator when necessary to facilitate calling in additional staff and/or holding staff over.
- Affords assistance in transporting of individuals going on scheduled activities and in emergency situations, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of individual care techniques and of treatment, therapy, and developmental programs.
- Knowledge, or ability to gain knowledge, of the facility policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of basic scheduling techniques, considerations, and facility-coverage strategies.
- Skill in using good judgment and making effective decisions when dealing with unusual/critical incidents.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in an emergency.
- Ability to train staff in job related subject areas.
- Ability to provide individual care, to administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, to conduct Safety Utilization of Restraint (SUR).
Additional Information
- Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS List of Excluded Individuals/ Entities (LEIE).
- Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
- Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
